Why Have Puppy Exams, Vaccines, and Deworming?

Puppy exams are important to ensure your new family member is healthy and free of any congenital abnormalities. An exam is also beneficial to monitor their growth rate and check for any sign of illness. Vaccines pick up when mother's nursing immunity starts to end. Vaccinations are important to build a healthy immune system in your new puppy. A tailored vaccine series will ensure that your new pet will be protected if they are exposed to a sick animal. Most puppies are born with worms. They get intestinal worms from their mother while still in the womb and through their mother's milk. These worms can suck blood from your new pet and may cause a life-threatening disease. These parasites are also zoonotic, which means they can affect humans as well.

Our Puppy care package includes the following :

A Physical Exam:

The most important part of the Puppy package is the physical exam. Your veterinarian will assess all body systems to check for any abnormalities.

Vaccines

A very crucial part of the first six months of your pet's life. Puppies receive a total of 4 vaccines at 3 to 4 week intervals. This vaccine protocol maximizes the potential for your animal to develop an immunity against the diseases within the vaccine.

Ear Cleaning

This is done to remove any debris that can create an environment for infection.

Ear Cytology

This will detect any present infection.

Fecal

This will detect intestinal parasites which could be contagious to you and your human loved ones and cause harm to your pet.

Deworming

All puppies have intestinal worms. A deworming with a medication to treat all common puppy intestinal worms is included 3 times during the package.

Ear Mite Exam

This will detect any present ear mites which could lead to a secondary ear infection.

Spaying

Spaying is an ovariohysterectomy (removal of the ovaries and Uterus). If spayed before the fist heat cycle your pet has less than 1% chance of developing breast cancer. It eliminates the risk of ovarian and uterine cancer and, eliminates unwanted pregnancy.

Neutering

This is the removal of the testicles and spermatic cord. It eliminates the risk of testicular cancer, the second most common tumor in male dogs. It also greatly reduces the risk of prostate cancer and prostatitis. It reduces the risk of perianal tumors. Also, it reduces roaming and fighting and eliminates unwanted litters.

Unfortunate reality

More than 4 million pets are euthanized in U.S. animal shelters each year simply because they have no home. Many puppies and kittens less than 6 months old. Spaying and Neutering helps stop this needless loss of life.
